work light image

The use of special gadgets like LED cordless work light has numerous benefits to everyone. Daily activities are made easier with the help of the LED cordless work light that it has become a necessity in all households and workplace.

It is fairly interesting to know how a LED cordless light was developed into the product that are now available on the market. It all started in 1907 when Nick Holonyak of Zeigler, Illinois conducted an extensive research. After years of intensive research the first LED light was introduced in 1962. In general, work lights are classified as Fluorescent, LED, Incandescent, and Hallogen. Light Emitting Diode or LED, is mostly used in digital displays and lamps. In comparison to incandescent lamps, LED work lights are more durable, consume much less energy and have longer life span.

Many prefer a LED cordless light than other similar products for various reasons. Because of the white light, it does not make the eyes tired, no cords to tangle up with while working, and also no need to replaced worn cords at some time. The only thing that the consumer needs to do is recharge the light from an electric outlet as needed according to specifications.

There have been continuous technical research and improvements being for a long time in response to simplicity, durability, cost and relating factors. Companies involved in the production of LED cordless lights are constantly introducing new and improved features to their respective products to remain competitive. The ideal goal is to at least stay in the market or better still to grab a large share as possible. These companies invest various resources to make sure they stay on top of the latest market trends. The LED cordless work lights available in the market today come in thousands of shapes by numerous brands. It has become much smaller and more user friendly over time that it is now much easier to carry it around with you always.

Indeed, the LED cordless work light has evolved into various forms; thanks to the advancement of technology and to competition which somehow pushed the producers to be innovative and continuously improve their products. Needless to say, the use of LED cordless work light is very beneficial to everyone. For instance, technicians and mechanics can do their work easier and faster with the use of gadgets because they need a clear view of the machine parts they are working on.

It is a good idea to make sure that you have a cordless work light with you at all times. In case of an emergency, it is a reliable source of light in any situation. It comes very handy for the car owner to do the simple troubleshooting and no longer needs the services of a mechanic.

It is a valuable instrument the moment electrical problems occur. It hastens the repair of the switch box or the replacement of a busted fuse or a change of blown lamp that can help to restore the electricity. When electrical interruptions occur in wider areas, the LED light helps the normal flow of activities to continue with as little interruption as possible.

Given the practical benefits of the LED cordless work light that every consumer is enjoying, it will remain to be popular and indispensable for all members of the community.

tube light image

In this world of growing environmental awareness, the quest for efficient lighting energy is growing continuously. A lot of businesses and people are in search of lighting options that will not only reduce energy consumption but also cost efficient and highly functional. LED tube lighting may possibly be the solution most consumers are seeking.

LED stands for light emitting diodes. They are minute semiconductors chips that transform electricity into light. The earlier incandescent lighting bulbs create light as a secondary output from the intensely heated filaments that require a lot of energy. On the other hand, LEDs convert the energy flowing through them into light thus can be efficient two times more than the incandescent light.

The latest technological advances in fluorescent lighting have direct to recognition of compact fluorescent lights among people. LED lighting is however more proficient because it can last over seventy five times than incandescent light and more than eight times than fluorescent lights.

LED light is presented in various colors that create various kinds of effects in an area. When one is selecting the correct LED lighting either for the office or for home installation, he or she should consider the level of lighting needed in that room. This is due to numerous levels, which can generate a bright glow or soft feel in a row.

LEDs generally, are made with the use of a long silicon substrate, which has some LEDs. The substrate is normally enclosed in a glass tube, which makes it ready for use. These tubes have no toxic gases or chemicals hence can be disposed as common waste.

There are major health and environmental hazards, which are associated with the incandescent and fluorescent lights due to the presence of mercury, which is very dangerous and toxic. Those who have ever worked in warehouses and office where fluorescent tubes are installed know well about the irritation and distraction of the flickering lights that causes vision and eye problems. LED tube alleviates such flickering because with time, they lose their luminosity but still have great output.

truck lights image

So what is an aerial bucket truck, other than a piece of equipment used by city workers to hang decorative lights at Christmas? By definition, an aerial lift device is any vehicle-mounted device, telescoping or articulated, that is used to position personnel. Needless to say, that definition just doesn’t quite cover the scope of application of this utility vehicle!

There are countless functions for this aerial platform truck, although most people think that this unique piece of equipment is only used by telephone companies, electric companies and cable companies. The truth is this vehicle is a suitable piece of equipment for virtually any type of task that requires working at different unreachable heights. It can provide a steady and secure platform from which most anyone can work.

This high-reaching vehicle was primarily developed for orchards to make the task of fruit harvesting easier which is how it got the name of cherry picker. Before very long, it found its way into many other applications. From agriculture to construction to emergency vehicles, the bucket truck has a very unique duty to perform. Here are a few of the industries that make good use out of this high-rising truck.

Fire and Rescue- Imagine that you are on the top floor of a burning building. All the structures below are in flames, so there is no obvious way for anyone to access you from the ground. Your only hope for survival is to either risk your life by jumping from the roof and hoping that the firemen can catch you in their net – or you could get down safely through the use of an aerial bucket truck.

The aerial platform fire trucks are equipped with a hydraulically-operated boom with a basket on the end that is designed to give firefighters direct access to the top floors of a building and facilitate rescues. These vehicles can also come in handy not just during fiery situations but can also provide a helping hand for rescuing people and pets that are stuck in trees.

Telephone and Electric Companies – .Imagine working 30 to 50 feet high off the ground while dealing with live wires and nothing to hold you but your willpower and a few ropes. Being a lineman is a dangerous job. The risks associated don’t just involve getting electrocuted; there’s also a huge risk of falling from the pole.

Thanks to aerial lift vehicles, the job is a whole lot less risky. The bucket truck can provide a safe platform from which to work. Because the boom is hydraulically powered, it can be automatically lifted right from the ground and eliminate the need for dangerous pole climbs. Using this truck, the job of a lineman is a lot safer.

Construction and Home Improvement- Another industry that can make great use of these aerial trucks are the construction and home improvement industry. This type of work frequently requires working on unfinished structures at dangerous heights.

Imagine if you were tasked to paint a building’s exterior or perform roof repair or install a huge glass pane on a 2nd or higher floor. Just the task of climbing up and down the unfinished structure could be very dangerous, not to mention the set of tools that you would have to bring along with you as you get yourself to your work area. How much easier is this job with some assistance from the aerial lift truck!

The usefulness of this truck to safely carry anyone and lift them directly to where the work needs to be done cannot be overstated. The bucket can be used to lift someone to a roof or position them on the sides of structures. Yes, installing exterior decorations can also be performed with ease using the aerial bucket truck. That is the function of this vehicle, to work at great heights in safety. It is the perfect equipment for a lofty job!

studio lighting image

When you are new to studio portrait photography, studio lighting can seem difficult, mysterious, and perhaps even ominous at times. You may read ten different books on lighting by the “experts”, and quite likely you will get ten totally different opinions about what constitutes proper lighting. Maybe this is because “proper” lighting for studio portraits is just that; a matter of opinion. Yes, there are classic styles of lighting such as: open loop, closed loop, butterfly or Paramount, broad lighting, short lighting, and so forth. But, ninety nine times out of a hundred, clients who come into your studio do not care about the technical aspects of lighting, or even the classical styles of lighting. They simply want to look great in their portraits, and it’s your job as a professional portrait photographer to help them do just that. The system of lighting used in my portrait studio is simple to understand, easy to work with, and it helps our clients look their best.

Our typical lighting scheme consists of three strobe lights with a forth strobe “hair light” used as needed. First, the key light is the main light source in the lighting scheme and is used to contour the face and add depth and interest to the subject. The key light is what enables the three dimensional subject to be rendered in a two dimensional plane, yet perceived as a three dimensional image. The key light in our studio’s light setup is mounted on a Studio Titan Side Kick stand. The beauty of this stand is that it is very stable, has lockable casters so it is easily repositioned, and the height of the key light is very easily adjustable with the “single touch” adjustable arm. The key light is usually the only strobe in our setup that is repositioned during the course of a photo shoot.

The key light is modified using a parabolic reflector, a shoot through umbrella or a reflecting umbrella, a soft box (several sizes may be used), or by other means, thereby achieving in each portrait the desired effect. A guideline to remember is: at a given distance between light source and subject, the smaller the light source, the harsher the incident light and the sharper (more contrast) the shadows. Choose the modifier accordingly to achieve the desired effect for your portrait (i.e. light modifiers in order of decreasing contrast: 6” parabolic reflector, 16” parabolic reflector, 40” reflecting umbrella, 40” shoot through umbrella, 3’x4’ softbox, 4’x6’ softbox). The key light is then metered (independently) to f11. This may be accomplished by adjusting the power to the strobe, and/or the distance between key light and subject.

During the photo shoot, the illumination of the subject will remain constant when you reposition the key light, as long as the distance between the key light and the subject remains constant. This simple fact is useful to keep in mind for one reason. It enables you to quickly relocate your key light for different desired effects without re-metering everything. Visualize your subject being at the hub of a wheel, the radius of the wheel being equal to the distance (between the key light and your subject) that gave you f11. The key light may be relocated to any position around the perimeter of the imaginary wheel, with the illumination on your subject remaining a constant f11.

Second, the fill light serves as contrast control by filling in the “sockets and pockets” of your subject. The fill light in our light set up is permanently positioned about 15 feet from the subject, directly out in front of the set. It is elevated to a height of about ten to eleven feet above the floor, so we are able to shoot from directly underneath the fill light if necessary. The fill light is diffused by a large soft box, and oriented (angled) to directly face the subject. It is typically metered (independently) to f5.6, by adjusting the power to the strobe. This gives a light ratio on your subject of about 1:4.

The third strobe in our studio light setup serves as the background light. The background light may be mounted on a short stand positioned directly behind the subject, and angled upward to illuminate the backdrop and eliminate any shadows behind the subject. Positioning the subject at least six feet from the background also helps to eliminate shadows on the background. For a vignette effect on a low key back ground use a small parabolic reflector and possibly a grid spot or barn doors to direct and focus the light where you want it. For a more evenly lit mid key backdrop substitute a soft box strip mounted on a boom stand, high and angled downward and toward the back drop. Typically for low key to mid key portraits we meter the background light to f5.6 or f8. This is a matter of preference depending on the desired effect. You can easily create elegant low to mid key portraits [http://www.hayleybarnesphoto.com/Gallery_1.html] using this setup.

For super hi key shots, to get the snow white seamless background look, you must overexpose the background relative to the subject by two stops. For example [http://www.hayleybarnesphoto.com/Gallery_3.html], if you meter your key to f8 you should meter the background to f16 to achieve the desired effect. The trick is to get your subject far enough out from the background so they don’t pick up too much reflected light and you are able to blow out the background while maintaining proper exposure on your subject. The fill is still metered one or two stops below the key to maintain a nice contrast ratio on your subject. Super hi key portraits may best be accomplished using two background lights, angled in on each side of the background. This gives a more evenly distributed background light.

The forth strobe often used in our studio light setup, is the hair light. It is used to separate the subject from the background and to accentuate the subject’s hair and shoulders. The hair light may be positioned low or high behind the subject depending on the desired effect, and modifiers such as a snoot or a grid spot may be used to direct and focus the light as desired. Whether or not the hair light is used depends on the subject’s hair color relative to the backdrop and on the desired effect for the portrait (e.g. dark hair disappears on a dark backdrop and requires the hair light as a separator)

Beyond posing your subject in a flattering way, lighting your subject is the single greatest skill you must master in order to create exceptional portraiture. Your lighting scheme does not have to be overly complex, and your equipment need not be the latest and greatest. However, you must develop a basic understanding of light contrast ratio and how to control the light, in order to masterfully create elegant and beautiful portraits. The lighting setup described above may be a good starting point. It is very simple to understand and easy to use, generally, only the key light is repositioned during the course of a photo shoot. From there, experiment and practice to achieve the results that you imagine. As always, good day and happy clicking.

string lights image

Bulb string lights are the simplest kind of string lights. They are simply shaped like the ordinary unassuming light bulb. Although their design has no frills in it they are still very elegant. They can cast a warm and elegant glow onto any space and add a festive mood to any occasion.

Different Types

Bulb lights may have a very simple shape but they also come in different types. There are two types of these lights based on the material used: the glass and the plastic bulb lights. Glass lights are more expensive than the plastic ones. They are also more fragile and if you are not careful in putting them up then you may end up with a few broken ones. The plastic light bulbs are less expensive and they do not break that easily. Just get those that are of good quality so that their bulbs don’t get busted that easily. Glass and plastic bulb string lights come in single-colored or multi-colored strands. Multi-colored light bulbs create a more festive atmosphere for any party.

Clear Or Frosted Bulbs

Bulb string lights also come in clear or frosted light bulbs. Clear bulbs cast a brighter glow and they are your best choice if you want your party venue to have ample lighting. Frosted light bulbs give off a more muted glow. They are perfect if you want a more intimate setting for your party. Guests will feel more relaxed if the lighting is warm and muted. Bright lighting may make some of your guests feel self-conscious. Frosted bulb string lights are also the perfect lighting to hang over an outdoor deck that also doubles as your dance floor for the evening. They will create a romantic atmosphere for the couples dancing the night away.

Indoor Or Outdoor Use

When you buy bulb string lights, get those that are specifically made for a certain type of use. If you are using them outdoors then get those that are for outdoor use. This is to make sure that there are no accidents if they get exposed to water or moisture. You do not want any of your guests to get electrocuted and ruin an otherwise perfect night. Before you put them up take the time to check each stand of bulb string lights to make sure that they are all in perfect condition. Look for exposed wiring that may cause a serious accident.

street lights image

LED Street lighting is a fresh new alternative to traditional street lamps such as LPS, HPS, or MH street lights. LED lighting provides a multitude of advantages over conventional incandescent light: LED street lights are environmentally friendly, energy efficient, and cost-effective. This smart, “green” option for outdoor lighting has emerged on the green scene due to the recent technological advancements of LED illumination.

But more “greener” option for you is Solar street lighting by recycled green energy lighting system. They are of energy saving and environmental friendly, which can be used for residential, road, park and so on. High quality solar panel absorbs sunlight and convert into electricity energy, then charges maintenance-free battery and finally LED street lights automatically when day off, auto-off when day break.

The working method of solar street lights is: solar panel absorbs sunlight and converts it to electricity to drive 60W LED Street light.

The whole system is mainly composed by:

60W LED street lighting, solar panel, lead acid battery and solar street lighting controller, pole (suggest 6-8m height).

Because of different weather condition in different country and different requirements from different market, so the specification of each part of the whole solar street lighting system, especially solar panel and battery, are depending on following factors:

• Average local daily sunshine hours.
• Working times of the system per night.
• Backup days of the solar system during rainy days.

Advantages of LED Solar Street Lighting Projects

1). Lower power consumption
2). Higher power, higher intensity
3). Save all your electricity cost. Save electric transformer and cable cost. Free maintenance
4). Environmental Impact – Eliminate Hazardous Disposal
5). Longer lifetime: Lifespan of solar panel is 20-25 years. Lifespan of LED street lights is 6-8 years. Lifespan of battery is 4-6 years.

neon lights image

According to some, the origin of the history of neon lights dates back to 1675. Ever since Neon lights dates back to first replaced Geissler tubes, they have enjoyed immense popularity in the entertainment and advertisement industry. Though the phenomenon of Neon illumination was discovered way back in 1675, it was only in 1910 that the French inventor Georges Claude invented a way to create Neon lamps using electric discharge. The technique involves applying electrical discharges to Neon gas contained in a tube which makes it illuminate

Though Georges Claude is credited with the invention of the Neon lighting, the principle behind it was already well known and widely used. Giessler tubes and Moore tubes worked on the principle that different gases emit different colored illuminations when they are supplied with electric current. While Moore tubes used abundant gases such as Carbon Dioxide and Nitrogen for luminance, Neon tubes were dependent on the scarcely found Neon. This led Georges Claude to begin manufacturing Neon in large quantities so that it was available for industrial use.

Unlike Moore tubes, the pressure of the gas in the Neon tube does not decrease. Due to this, Neon lighting lasts longer and provide constant light. Because of these advantages, the history of Neon lights enjoyed unrivaled attention for over 40 years from the early 1920s till 1960s. While they are still being used all over the world, their usage and installations in Times Square during the aforementioned period were particularly famous.

Neon signs continue to be a great way of advertising. Their omnipresence is evident from the fact that it is very difficult to imagine an eatery or a motel without a Neon sign hanging in front of them. Neon lights are an easy way to catch the attention of a passerby with their prominent lights and vibrant colors.

It is a common misunderstanding that all Neon lights are made of Neon. Though Neon was discovered in 1898, other gases belonging to the group of inert gases such as Krypton, Argon and Xenon soon followed. However, Neon lights were already a craze among advertisers. Therefore, the name stuck for all lighting that used this technique irrespective of the gas being used. Each gas produces a characteristic color e.g., Argon produces blue, Krypton and Xenon produces light and dark shades of purple. Therefore, individual colors or a combination of colors are used to generate the desired effect.

Using Neon lights also has several other advantages. Since the lighting only consists of a tube filled with gas and two electrodes, it is less complicated than incandescent bulbs which require a filament or fluorescent bulbs which need a fluorescent coating on the bulbs. Also, Neon tubes are malleable and can be bent to any shape. Also, tubes can be infinitely long (theoretically). However, since it is easy and economical to replace short tubes, Neon tubes are often of smaller length.

The history of neon lights and their popularity has stood the test of time and due to their wide range of applications in advertising and they are expected to continue to dominate the advertisements for many more years.

light switches image

Remote light switches – switches which allow you to turn lights (or other appliances) off or on without having to manually toggle the switch – are getting pretty commonplace these days. From internet searches to infomercials to the shelves of your local home improvement stores, these devices are everywhere.

Wireless television remotes were first developed in the 1950′s. By today’s standard these mechanical devices were primitive. When you pushed a button it would hit a metal bar with an audible “click” (hence the term “clicker”). The television circuits would respond to the resultant frequency and the television would turn on, turn off, change channels, etc. Unfortunately, anything that resulted in the same frequency would have the same result as my family found out when we discovered we could manipulate the television while eating simply by the sounds of our knives and forks hitting each other or the plate (my brother was especially adept at this).

Technology improved and the number of practical applications for remote controls increased. Remote light switches typically send signals to receivers either wired to the device to be controlled itself or receivers which have been plugged into an outlet with the device then plugged into the receiver. The receiver is programmed to respond to certain remote control transmitters. When you push a button on the remote, the device responds to the transmitters as programmed. This technology is sometimes employed during remodeling of rooms and in the construction of log homes, when accessing the electrical wiring to the house directly can be difficult.

When was the last time you were in the basement and absent-mindedly turned off one light before you turned on another and you were literally feeling your way along the walls to turn on a light so you could see? Or the last time you hit your shin on something in the living room stumbling around in the dark? How about the last time you stayed out later than you planned and came home to a dark house?

light pole image

When Hershey Park, an amusement park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, planned the celebration of their 100-year anniversary, they chose light pole banners, as part of the marketing mix. The town-wide celebration will include a re-dedication of the park, 100 days of music, entertainment and fireworks and the unveiling of a new attraction, the Boardwalk at Hershey Park.

“Over seventy pole banners are prominently displayed in the parking lots and on the kiss-shaped light poles that line Chocolate Avenue, the main thoroughfare through the community,” according to Don Rhoads, Print Buyer, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company. “We used two styles of banners: one style marks the 100-year anniversary of the Hershey’s Kiss, and the other marks the 100-year anniversary of Hershey Park. This is the first time we have used pole banners along Chocolate Avenue, and we are quite pleased with the results.”

In St. Louis, the advertising agency of Maring | Weissman developed a campaign for the Gateway Arch. In a departure from the usual practice of multiple pole banners that are all identical, the banners in this campaign highlight the different activities available inside the Arch and at nearby Arch venues including the Historic Old Courthouse and Riverboats.

Says Beth Marti-Maxwell, Production Manager, Maring | Weissman: “We designed different banner pairs highlighting all of the Arch attractions one can enjoy, including Riverboat rides, the Museum of Westward Expansion, movies, the museum gift shop, bicycle rentals, air tours, the Historic Old Courthouse and, of course, rides to the top of the Arch.”

Banners were installed near the Historic Old Courthouse, on the Arch grounds and at the RV/bus parking lot near the Riverfront. Explains Marti-Maxwell: “When tourists visit, they may be unaware of all the activities available at the Arch. The banners not only increase awareness of visitors’ options, they also improve the aesthetic appeal of the Arch grounds and surrounding area.”

Design options for light pole banners are expanding too. “The old pole banners had a more graphical representation of the attractions,” Marti-Maxwell says. “The new banners use photographic images, and we also incorporated a free-flowing flap at the bases of the signs, which gives them movement and adds visual interest.”

Cultural institutions are not alone: From major metropolitan cities to small town America, municipalities are finding new and innovative ways to use pole banners. The small town of Petersburg, Virginia is a perfect example.

Says Joe Rauchi, Systems Administrator and Webmaster for the City of Petersburg: “We did a banner campaign for our downtown area three or four years ago featuring a graphic of the courthouse. Downtown businesses contributed to the cost in exchange for a listing on the pole banners. The campaign was not as successful as it could have been for a couple of reasons: first, the colors were too muted to read well from the street.

Second, there were too many banners—one on every single light pole—and the effect was cluttered. We learned from that experience. With this current campaign for the Jamestown Festival, the color palette is bolder and we only mounted banners at the corners. There are three banners per pole, angling out like the blades of a fan, so that there is a clear view of the banner regardless of which direction one approaches the intersection from,” says Rauchi.

“After the Jamestown event is over, those pole banners will be replaced with seasonal banners, since the brackets are already in place. We are so pleased with the results that on my computer screen right now, I have designs for a pole banner campaign to signal the renovation of a municipal pool. We will also, of course, be doing pole banner campaigns to promote future events. The plan is to install series’ of banner campaigns, all in the same format, with the same scalloped flap detail at the bottom, with the goal of creating a cohesive brand for the municipality and the downtown area in particular,” concludes Rauchi.

Ferndale, Michigan had a different goal: Every year, Woodward, Michigan hosts the Woodward Dream Cruise, the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture, attracts more than 1 million visitors and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles. Cruisers and spectators travel up and down a 16-mile stretch of legendary Woodward Avenue through the nine communities of Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak. The city of Ferndale wanted to capitalize on this exposure. An area in transition, and the next community in line in terms of gentrification, Ferndale uses pole banners as a means of promoting itself as a desirable place to live.

For Suzanne Lee of That Color, it was her company’s first pole banner project. “We worked with Commerce Color, a grand and large format printer headquartered in St. Louis,” says Lee. “The pole banners, which needed to be clearly visible from a long distance, were eight feet high. Our plotters are not big enough to print at that scale. Since it was my first project of the kind, we had Commerce do a sample for the client to approve. The quality was excellent and I am very pleased with how everything went,” says Lee. “The pole banners, which were a vibrant blue, stood out for miles. It was a very good experience all the way around and I am prepared to do more.”

light dimmer image

With the advent of new technologies in light bulbs, dimmer switches have become even more complicated. Specifically, what kind of light bulbs are compatible with which sort of dimmer switches? It used to be that you would simply put a dimmer switch on a wall and you could easily adjust the light levels of any bulb. This is no longer the case, however. In this article, I will discuss how to find the dimmer switches that are right for your bulbs.

How Dimmers Work: In order to understand compatibility, it is important to understand how dimmers work. Light bulbs have both voltage and wattage to them. Voltage decides the type of current that enters a light bulb, while wattage decides the strength of that current. Contrary to what you might think, it is the voltage of the current that is affected by the dimmer, not the wattage. This can wreak havoc with certain light bulbs, if they get the wrong voltage.

Incandescent Light Bulbs: Incandescents will work with any dimmer switch. This is because incandescent light bulbs will only burn out if you go over their voltage, not if you stay under it. In fact, running an incandescent light bulb at a lower voltage can actually increase its lifespan. If anything, you should be looking for the most inexpensive available dimmers, since you won’t need any more.

Fluorescent Light Bulbs: Fluorescents are far more complicated. If you put a lower voltage current through a fluorescent light bulb that isn’t designed for dimming, your bulb will start to hum and then simply shut off, without ever dimming. To dim fluorescent lights, you need two things. First, you need a bulb with what is called a “dimmable ballast.” It will say so on the package if it has one. Second, you need a dimmer that is compatible with your bulb. The problem is that standard dimmers are not perfectly compatible with all dimmable fluorescents, even if the fluorescent says so on the box. Instead, you are better off getting a dimmer specially designed for fluorescent lights or CFLs. These switches will say they are specially designed for fluorescent lights.
